Thank you for using Amara!

Amara is a mentorship platform based on authentic, 1-on-1 voice conversations. Our products include our iOS app and our website (our "Products" or "Service"). Among other things, our Products allow you to use your voice to interact with others in real-time through initial "Spark Calls" and ongoing 7-day voice communication capabilities that we call "Weekly Lines".

When you use our Products, you provide personal information to us. We wrote this privacy policy (the "Privacy Policy" or "Policy") to help you understand what personal information we collect, how we use it and disclose it, how long we retain it, and what choices you have about it. This Policy does not cover information that does not identify you. Nor does it cover the practices of other Amara users. Users who speak with you on Amara, or view the public profile information you share, might save that information outside of our Products using other tools.

By accessing or using the Service, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information about you in the following ways when you use the Service:

2. Third-Party Infrastructure and Services

Voice Calls and Audio Privacy

The core of the Amara Service is facilitating authentic, 1-on-1 voice conversations, including initial "Spark Calls" and ongoing "Weekly Lines".

To ensure high-quality, reliable, and secure connectivity, all voice calls are routed through our telecommunications partner, Twilio. For your privacy and security, Amara does not record, transcribe, monitor, or store the audio of any voice conversations on our servers. All conversations remain strictly private and ephemeral, existing only for the duration of the live call. You may review the Twilio Privacy Notice for more information regarding their data practices.

Payments, Payouts, and Transactions

The Service provides a marketplace for "Weekly Lines". To ensure community safety and verify transaction validity, earnings are held in a secure escrow for the duration of the 7-day Weekly Line, plus an additional standard 8-day holding period. This holding period provides sufficient time to review and resolve any potential chargebacks, payment disputes, or fraud complaints before funds are disbursed to your connected bank account.

To receive these disbursements, you must complete the Stripe onboarding process via the Amara app. All payment processing, including upfront payments and these earnings disbursements, is securely handled by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. Amara does not process or store your complete credit card number or bank account details on our servers. For more details on how payment data is collected and managed, please refer to the Stripe Privacy Policy.

4. How We Share Your Information

We are committed to maintaining your trust, and we want you to understand when and with whom we may share the information we collect. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Data Security

Amara implements robust, industry-standard physical, technical, and administrative security measures designed to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure.

These safeguards include, but are not limited to, encryption of data in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS), strict identity-based access controls, secure cloud infrastructure, and continuous monitoring of our systems for potential vulnerabilities. All payment and financial data is tokenized and processed securely by our PCI-compliant partners.

While we are deeply committed to safeguarding your data and employ state-of-the-art security practices, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. In addition to our rigorous technical safeguards, you are also responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your invite codes, account credentials, and the physical security of your mobile device.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as reasonably necessary to provide the Service. Upon a verified request, your profile will be removed from active use and non-essential data will be permanently deleted in accordance with our retention policies and applicable laws.
